Remaining present and grounded in our daily lives is a crucial component of our ability to live in a state of joy and gratitude no matter what circumstances surround us. Mindfulness helps us to regulate our nervous systems and sharpen our ability to make sound decisions. I tend to write encouraging passages to the members of our community, Booked and Bougie. Here’s one that I shared recently in relation to remaining mindful and present in everyday life.
“My Wish for You Today”
My wish for you today:
My wish for you today and every day is that you savor living.
That you wrap your hands around your cup of coffee or tea, and notice its warmth.
That when the fresh air hits your face outside, you open your chest and breathe deeply, feeling your lungs expand.
That you slow down to appreciate the flavors in your food, and feel your body thank you when you give it nourishing foods.
That you receive good news or a word of encouragement; something that makes you smile.
That your eyes feast on nature, art, and beauty. That you notice how pretty the steam is rising from your hot beverage, or the special little details on the faces of the people you love.
That you become aware of the light you carry, and continue to share it with the world.
My wish for you is that you notice and remain mindful of the gift of your existence.

What are some things you can slow down to notice and savor each day?
